In & Out of Life was the first of two double solo shows held by Mastrovito simultaneously at the Milan galleries Antonio Colombo Arte Contemporanea and 1000 eventi Gallery (the second, Nickelodeon, took place two years later in 2008).
The works presented at 1000 eventi gallery marked a moment of great change and experimentation in Mastrovito's work, which, until then, had been based mainly on collage and its development in space.
Leaving this aspect of his work at Antonio Colombo Arte Contemporanea, the artist focused at 1000 eventi on a series of interventions such as his first photocopies, the first video animations, the first lightboxes, and the first animated video installation, thanks to the relationship of great mutual trust established with gallery owner Giuseppe Pero, similar in its experimental approach to that developed in previous years with Barbara Polla at Analix Forever in Geneva. Even today, this 2006 exhibition can be identified as one of the crucial steps in Mastrovito's research.
