Andrea Mastrovito (born in Bergamo in 1978, lives and works between Bergamo and New York) is an Italian multimedia artist well-known for his ability to define drawing through different medias, from sheet to installation to animated feature films, all enhanced with storytelling skills that allow him to engage each and every form of expression.
Graduated in 2001 at Academy of Fine Arts G. Carrara in Bergamo, from the mid 2000’s Mastrovito has had exhibitions in museums and Biennals all over the world. His most recognized works are The Island of Dr. Mastrovito (2010-2012), created with thousands of cut-up books, Gv 19,30 (2014), three-dimensional stained glass windows for the Church of San Giovanni XXIII in Bergamo, his latest animated feature films, NYsferatu (2017) and I Am Not Legend (2020) and the installation Tristes Presentimientos de lo que ha de acontecer (2022) created using salvaged materials for Proa21 in Buenos Aires and now part of the permanent collection at GAMeC in Bergamo.
In 2025 he has been commissioned to create the Agnus Dei for Barcelona's Sagrada Familia, a work that, once installed, will mark the end of the Basilica's main construction site after 140 years.
The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs awarded Mastrovito the New York Prize in 2007. In 2019 Mastrovito won the 6th edition of the Italian Council. His works have also been included in many institutional exhibitions all across Europe and the United States, such as those at MAXXI National Museum of the 21st century and Palazzo delle Esposizioni, Rome; Pecci, Prato; MART, Rovereto; Manchester Art Gallery, Manchester; B.P.S. 22, Charleroi; Belvedere21 in Wien; Mudac, Lausanne; Museum of Arts and Design, Queens Museum and The Drawing Center, New York.

Since 2014 he has made a series of permanent public interventions in Italy, France, Belgium, Spain and the United States.
He has held public talks at GAMeC and Accademia Carrara in Bergamo; Naba, Accademia di Brera, Museo Pecci, Spazio Oberdan and Palazzo delle Stelline in Milan; Ca' Foscari Zattere in Venice; Palazzo Forti in Verona; American Academy, Fondazione La Quadriennale and Istituto Centrale per la Grafica in Rome; Museum Nitsch in Naples, Pavillon Blanc in Colomiers; Belvedere21 in Wien; Innis Town Hall Theatre in Toronto; Broward College in Fort Lauderdale; Montclair State University in Montclair; ISCP, NYU and Italian Academy at Columbia University in New York.
In 2021 he founded in Bergamo, together with partners Marco Marcassoli and Walter Carrera, The Drawing Hall, the first space entirely dedicated to Italian contemporary drawing, of which he is artistic director.
