"MCm (LCm) doesn’t only stand for the Least Common multiple, but also “1900” if read as a Roman numeral. Indeed, it directly connects to the 1900s, both in technique— frottage, officially recognized as an invention by Max Ernst in 1925—and in the reference image, an old post-war photo depicting the employees and managers of Marca Corona at that time. Although the concept became clear to me after the initial workshops, the execution was quite complex. The original photograph was rather grainy, and when enlarged to 5 by 2 meters, it lost a lot of definition. When I engraved it onto wood to use as a matrix for the frottage, the image was practically invisible. In the end, this turned out to be advantageous because the figures, painstakingly brought to life on the white sheets covering each engraved wooden module after hundreds and hundreds of strokes with blue pastel, appear like ghosts—hints, evocations of an undefined humanity that, for this reason, becomes even more universal."
