The third chapter of the three-part exhibition “N'importe ou hors du monde” consisted of “Ration K - nous sommes ce que nous mangeons,” which was also part of the collective exhibition “The Art of the Table,” dedicated to the table as a stage, from Ancient Rome to the present day.
In this installation created for the octagonal salon of the Château de Suze-la-Rousse, Mastrovito focused on the appearance and disappearance of the image of an object through drawings that spread across the table, cutlery, and newspapers.
Through a twist, he referenced the “K-Ration,” the food ration given to American soldiers during World War II, consisting of three meals. He then imagined a tripartite creation: a table for each meal. Each one symbolizes an identity, a historical sequence, and has a specific title:
Breakfast: La Pologne c'est nous
Lunch: Ich Bin Ein Berliner
Dinner: Nous sommes tous americains
