" Millionnaire" represents a double turning point in Mastrovito's research: inspired by Alighiero Boetti's “Cimento dell'Armonia e dell'Invenzione” and Kasimir Malevich's “White Square on White Background,” on the one hand, the artist takes his research on representation to the extreme, returning to the original white sheet of paper as a synthesis of the gallery wall, which is photocopied, dissected, and then bound into a five-volume edition that is at once a work, a catalog, an exhibition, and a gallery.
On the other hand, the simplification and return to the blank sheet mark the beginning of his research on drawing (in parallel with his first experiments in rotoscoping - “Robespierre” and “Eine Symphonie des Grauens” - in the same year, 2007).
