Andrea Mastrovito's third and final solo exhibition at 1000eventi Gallery marks the artist's transition from the pictorial chromaticism of his early work to the essentiality of drawing.
These “Martyres” are Mastrovito's latest major series of collages, which in terms of color, mark-making, and technique are closer to drawing and engraving than to painting. The 15 large collages are accompanied by a series of essential drawings, in which the cutter interacts with the tip of the pencil, and by a minimalist video installation that refers, in terms of theme, to the work “A Sud del Cielo” (2011) on which the artist was working at the same time.
