"L'italia è una repubblica democratica fondata sul pallone" is an ephemeral work created by Andrea Mastrovito at the Italian Cultural Institute in New York on the occasion of Republic Day, June 2, 2014.
Created with the collaboration of a dozen students from the Guglielmo Marconi Italian School in Manhattan, the work reproduces the front page of “Milano Sera” from June 5/6, 1946, reporting the news of the Republic's victory over the Monarchy in the referendum of June 2.
