In & Out of Life was the first of two double solo shows held by Mastrovito simultaneously at the Milan galleries Antonio Colombo Arte Contemporanea and 1000 eventi Gallery (the second, Nickelodeon, took place two years later in 2008).
The exhibition at Antonio Colombo was the most spectacular and at the same time the least experimental of the two, featuring collages and paper scenographies that revisited and developed techniques and installations created a year earlier for the solo show at Biagiotti Progetto Arte, Wild Beast Caged, while on the upper floor of the gallery, in the dark, a spotlight illuminated a vast expanse of black butterflies (anticipating by two years the installation at Dior in Paris) on which the artist had placed a series of free-standing paper silhouettes depicting the various protagonists of Picasso's Guernica.
